Best 10k Phone – July 2007

Today I am going to write about a few phones in Indian market that are best for a budget around Indian Rs.10,000.

Lets Start.

What a customer with a 10k budget should expect from the market? He would want at least a 2 MegaPixel camera, MP3, GPRS, Bluetooth, maybe EDGE or 3G. Considering that 3G is not scheduled to come within public reach before Feb-2008, we wont talk about 3G phones.

The first phone that according to me is just perfect on a 10k budget is none other than the Sony Ericsson K750.

SONY ERICSSON K750i

It has best of its range 2 MegaPixel Camera with Autofocus. A fixed focus phone like SE W700i is quite OK for a quick point and shoot pictures, but with autofocus you can very much ensure crystal sharp shots of the subject. Thats the main reason, the W700i is not recommended. So you don’t have to stress on its camera part as u own the best in the range.

The K750i still has a lot more, it is a fully featured phone with best of everything. It has digital music player, FM radio, Bluetooth, memory stick support upto 2GB, though the company says we can even use the 4GB ones, but 2GB is more official. Its video camera shoots only QCIF video size(176 x 144) which are only worth viewing in the phone only. According to me thats the biggest drawback of Sony Ericsson phones which are still using that ancient video size mark.

The Music Player of K750i is the most worth part of it. The quality is beyond any words. I think its just perfect with all the megabass and all. There is no point in getting a Walkman phone as even they play the same quality music. Just packed in a different case. 😉

It can store up to 200 messages which can be upgraded to 30,000 using some 3rd party softwares like FAR manager. It supports themes.

It has GPRS, and using 3rd party softwares like opera mini, u can surf the internet in rich html format.

Next in line is for the Nokia Fans.

Nokia 6300

A classic design with a beautiful stainless steel finish. Slim, elegant, easy to use and with a good quality 2 megapixel camera, a built-in MP3 player, memory expandable to 2 Gbytes, and wireless Bluetooth connectivity. A must-buy phone for its awesome sexy looks. I just love the phone for its deadly looks. 😉

The size is just perfect. Its a slim(11.7mm) and not too wide too. The weight is enough to make it feel very solid and substantial.

The phone is equipped with the symbian s40 OS, so all the java apps and games work nice. The MP3 player quality is no close to what sony ericsson’s provide. Afterall, sony is a market leader in music devices.

Same applies for the camera too. I have personally compared the cameras of SE K750i and Nokia 6300, and k750i is the clear winner. It is a clear fact that Sony is a market leader in camera’s too. The pictures looks way more real and crisp than the nokias. But that doesnt mean that the 6300 cam is not any good. I would give it 3 out of 5. Its just an okay camera for light use.

Anyways, the N6300 is easy to use, connecting and synchronizing with the computer with the USB port is a breeze. The phone is equipped with EDGE which provides faster downloads.

The screen is a 16 million color, 240 x 320 pixel. But i dont understand why, the k750i inspite of having a 262k screen looks more crispy than the nokias.

Anyways, the phone is very well made and is bound to work nice and easy with harshest of user. So, go get it, you wont regret at all. I am confident about that. 😉
